Loves of my life... TRAVEL

Travel: When I graduated from High School I got a suitcase. I had visions of stamping it with logos from all the places I would see. It was a pink hard side. I prefer long trips but I’ll take any I can get. There are so many places I want to explore. I just love experiencing new places and visiting old favorites. I like making lists and charts and planning. I love getting guidebooks and watching programs about where we will venture next. Some trips we’re more spontaneous or flexible. I long to visit where my ancestors came from and church/ American history sites. For a time I wanted to be an Art Major so I love seeing cool Museums and architecture. I love the water so anytime I get to swim, snorkel or gaze into the deep blue depths I am happy. Sometimes Scott will humor me and get in with me—I treasure these times. He doesn’t like to get his fingers prickly. Scott is the perfect travel companion, I only wish I were more adventurous at times when he gets the itch to get crazy… like skydive or eat squid. The only thing holding me back; the sun, heat, bugs, yucky food, heights, and for the moment fear of flying. We had a condo while I was growing up but we also traveled as a family. Scott and I have traveled extensively together. Each place has a different feel to it. I like to hunt for the little nuance’s that make it unique. There is a trend for every place to look the same. I would love to cruise around the world, to see the Greek islands and all of Europe. I am interested to go to New Zealand and Australia. I can’t wait to do an Alaskan Cruise. We have been spoiled by Arbonne putting us up in really posh places. But I am a bargain girl. I like to see how inexpensive I can haggle it too. We have fun with price line, often the front desk workers are in sticker shock when we check in. Some of my top ten trips have been: Washington D.C. with my Mom, Grandma Cotton and Sue Rahm. Our honeymoon to Canada and Montana. The first cruise we took to the Caribbean, our first time to Kauai, our stays at the bottom of main street in Park City, Disneyworld at the holidays, Disneyland (with Scott, Charisse, Lisa ,Carlos and JoAnn, Anthony, Kinikini’s, Kelly and Teri, Pecks, OH especially the day we got be there when the park was closed to the public! I saw Julie Andrews—up close. California has been the site of many wonderful visits. St. Louis was a really neat city, friendly and clean. Nauvoo in the fall, IL to see Beth, and WI door county are also some fun ones that stand out. The trips to see Sue in Louisiana and Texas are dear to me. The ultimate improvement to travel would be to twinkle my nose like on bewitched and be there. The saying goes the journey is part of the joy, but I sometimes get cranky and want a bed. That has been the main reason I have not voyaged to Europe. I would possibly go nuts on a plane trapped that long. The thing that always amazes me is how I feel comfortable with Scott. He is the perfect travel mate. I think I would have made a good tour guide, travel agent, or cruise director; “This way to the Lido deck”. I always have these dreams of traveling with large groups of friends or family but generally it’s hard because you can’t please everyone. I organize family reunions; a combo of my favorite loves-- family, travel, photos, and usually food. I think sometimes just planning the trip can be as fun as going… well almost as fun. I love DVDs with music when we’re back home as a memento. I’d love a cabin or second home, yet I love new places. I like traveling in my mind or a book too.
