Girls Night Out

I had a fun night where my face hurts from laughing so much with two friends tonight. One just is off track from teaching the others hubby was out of town. Not that we needed an excuses to get together but with one moving and life just busy sometimes it is hard to keep in touch and find time to hang out. I made a very ugly set of jewelry. We decided that if I call it wearable art and try to sell it for a ton of money then it would work out. The best part of the night was just being with 2 people that I can completely be myself around and feel so comfortable. It is not a fun thing to be self conscious, however there are times when I do feel that way. Never around these 2 friends. I like that they did not hold back in agreeing on the hideousness of the set I had made. It started out with the best of intentions I had ordered the beads because Sarah had ordered some similar ones and I thought they would be safe. Oh boy was I wrong. I can't even post a photos as I am afraid it might break my camera:) They must be destroyed or sold for lots of money as wearable art-- that is all there is to it. Hilary took me to a new soup/ sandwich/ salad place called ZUppas. It was yummy. I had a salad with romaine lettuce, chicken, strawberries, cashews, grapes, and feta. They gave us a chocolate dipped strawberry. Friends are good for what ales you, especially when you can laugh really really hard. I already miss Sarah.

Ha ha hobbies

Creative hobbies are a passion for me. I become consumed and then totally move on to my next area of focus. The last few months as I have had time I have made jewelry. I officially have way more than I can ever wear even before my hobby thanks to adoring hubby, awesome mom in law and generous Arbonne. But I just can't resist the sparkly stuff and I used my birthday money to purchase beads and supplies. I like the fire mountain gems website Sarah told me about. I have made 2 purchases now and I love when I go in with friends on an order because ti makes every item drop in price:) The Ha HA part is because when I placed a large order a friends husband told me I would never ever make all the stuff I had planned on. Guess what? I have out done myself and need to order again. I wonder if I would have kept with it had I not had the teasing? I think so because it is a nice thing to do while multi tasking. I can listen to a book on tape or talk to someone while working on it. I like the colors and all the shiny sparkly(ness) of it. I could never sell the thing I make, they are not good enough and I just don't think after the time I spend I could sell it. But I wish I could because it could support my habit- I am hobby:) I have made gifts and also have a stash of worthless jewels. They have worth to me-- they are just not made with any real or precious gems and most have a flaw or two. I am getting better at wire wrapping as you can see from my ode to 4th of July firework earrings. Some I am very excited about as they have been totally my design and an answer to a dilemma. The first dilemma was having the perfect accessory to match certain hard to pair up outfits. The cool solutions were when I have a beautiful piece of jewelry that could not be worn due to damage or loss of a chain- now I created sets for these and I can enjoy them once again. These photos are just a sampling of a few creations I have made. The first time I ever made jewelry was on the way home from a trip to Jackson Hole in 2001, then I took a long break and started up again after seeing Sarah's beautiful creations on Etsy. It has been fun and Hilary and I will get together next week and make some more together. It is fun to do with friends. You each have some projects to work on and you get together and create. Marlene's cousin had a darling watch which you could have all different kinds of band creations for... I could make a watch next! I have even done a few scrapbook pages lately for OPC. I like hobbies. I do miss reading which I plan to get back to soon.

Sparkly and friends

We got together the other night to make jewelry with friends. Marlene and Jody made matching sets while Sarah babysat us all. Hillary helped me pick up all the beads I dropped as my neck is still so stiff and painful. Jody had back pain Marlene had rib pain and Sarah just was cute smiley Sarah. Sarah took some photos of her creations and I forgot to have her snap one of us:( Jody is a fantastic host and treated us to dinner and a variety of snacks. Her kids are so darn cute and getting way to grown up. I worked on a fun red and black set for an old brooch. It is always nice to sit and chat with friends.
