The sun has set and goldenClouds gleam in the evening sky
I must confess I'd always hoped
Today would pass me by
This was the words that Pres. V repeated from his talk at the adult session of Stake Conference. They are from a Roger Whittiker song. It is important to not let the perfect days pass us by. I think it is ironic but sometime we don't recognize the perfect days until they have passed us by. As I talk to my friends I hear the frustration at their children, as I talk to wives they feel it for their hubbies, as I talk to almost anyone there is a certain strain of patience building about something. I wonder how often when the person or situation is removed we realize too late that oops I really did love them. We never watch the news but tonight I turned it on for less than one half hour. I saw 6 people killed by a gunman in Trolley Square, 4 killed by a drunk Skyline High school student, and 2 other unknown cause murders. I thought where I lived the crime was low. My Aunt when I asked her why she didn't tell me about the killings said... "which ones? Oh honey there are hundreds everyday." I worry that we have become very callous to violence as a society. Human life is very precious in the eyes of God. Each person has great worth.
Marlene reminded me to journal something I love about someone I love so I will jot down a few of my favorite memories of my Mom. 1. she always was at everything I did and never missed a performance 2. she was an on time taxi service never complaining 3. her meals were yummy and served with flare 4. our house was clean and orderly (except her closet and my room sometimes) 5. she had a good humorous side 6. she made many sacrifices for me 7. the holidays were a magical time always 8. she never talked about about anyone 9. she had no enemies 10. she was always writing thank you notes 11. she loved to serve the Lord 12. we could talk to her about anything 13. she was honest (we would return pens if she walked out of the store with them after signing a check) 14. she had me while she was all alone 15. she loves music and has a beautiful voice 16. she believes in me 17. she told me not to quit dance and piano and that I would regret it... she was right 18. she picked a great dad for me 19. she has an awesome family she taught me to cherish and love 20. her laugh and burps.
We had many perfect days together I did not notice at the time and I hope we have many more.
