Beetles, Tie Dye and Hazel

Tonight was our YW Stake camp last meeting. We did tie dye bandanna's. My friend Emily has three adorable kids who for the first time were very happy to see me. I arrived early at her home and got the treat of sitting them while poor Emily went outside to the 103 degree heat to work with the girls. Hazel just smiled and sang songs and told me all about happiness. She loves the when your happy and you know it song. They live in the wonderful historic home and it is a treat to be there and see all her beautiful photos of the kids and her drawings. She was an artist before having children an illustrator in fact. She would still do it if she had the time. I'm sure one day she will pick it up again-- she is very talented. Reece just ran around telling me all about swords and music and Micha was not to happy to be with Missy, she is the baby of the family-- she just needs more time with me. But is was just a delightful time. Then outside I ventured into the heat and then came the bugs. Poor Deb ran screaming when Brooke said "Mom you have a giant beetle in your hair". Next was Emily running off into the bushes throwing herself into the fence. I was not happy about the dirt all over and as I looked around at these sorry excuses for outdoors women (myself at the top of the list) I thought... I have some serious doubts about this. Will we really survive a week in the wilderness and with 100 teenage girls looking to us for guidance? Perhaps I may slip away into the night and sneak off to a Bed and Breakfast:) I wonder if they would notice I was missing??? My tie dye also is a big mess since I forgot to soak it first in the soda ash. We also learned there will be no fire at camp:(
