"He who passively accepts evil
is as much involved in it
as he who helps to perpetrate it."
Martin Luther King
I faced the thing I feared the most,
And now it all seems clear.
I've found the strength inside of me,
And all I've lost is fear.
"We need not fear ridicule. There is a power within us that can rise above ridicule, that can, in fact, even turn it to good."
President Gordon B. Hinckley
On Sunday night Scott and I attend a FBI fireside. It was very interesting/ shocking listening to the FBI talk about drugs, gangs, child abuse, pornography and what to do about it. One of the agents spoke about how things used to be. I could remember the times he talked about. Kids were always outside playing, we had sleep overs in our back yards and it was safe to walk to school. It was startling to see all the events happening right in my own state. I felt like hiding in my house. But I know that is not the answer. He advised us to be involved in the community to report abuse or any questionable behavior. It is easier to turn your head or pretend like you didn't see. But if we want to reclaim America and preserve what it once was then we have to do our part. It is a very different world children face then I did growing up. I do believe it is also a wonderful time to be alive and that the majority of people are good. One of the things he said I found surprising was the young age that kids are becoming involved with these things. Meth is an enormous problem that used to effect small towns and now is everywhere in every school and even house wives are using it for weight loss and energy. The before and after photos were awful. They said the hardest thing they have to do it remove children from unsafe homes. The thing that catches him off guard is how happy the kids are when they realize they are finally safe. We have seen how it destroys lives. After all the terrible things the FBI spoke about the last one which they say is the worst was pornography. It destroys everything and is more addictive than the drugs. The very best thing to do for all these issues starts in the home. Be involved with your family members lives. Talk to them, check on them, know their friends, make your family your number one priority. Aunt Sue doesn't have many visitors so I can keep an eye on her:) The other thing I kept thinking about was the correlation of sugar and drugs. They both start out as a normal thing and then they keep getting chemically altered and refined until they end up in a white powder. Both cause reactions in your body and both can cause major addictions. Sugar may not be so sweet after all.
